LITTLE Mackenzie-Rose Foster, from Tanilba Bay, will find life much easier and the financial burden will be less heavy for her parents after $18,000 was raised at a gala day at Tilligerry RSL Sports Club on May 27.

When the four-year-old was diagnosed with the rare Batten's Disease, a degenerative condition that leaves sufferers with limited life expectancy, her supporters slipped into overdrive to raise funds for ongoing medical assistance and care.

Centrepiece of the fun-fair was a social cricket match between the RSL cricket club and the local soccer supremos.

A strong showing by the soccer club, helped by creative scorekeeping, saw the match end in a draw.

Proceeds of raffles, rides, stalls and an auction totalled about 18,000.

Meanwhile, Mallabula Panthers Rugby League Club is busy organising its own fund-raising day at their home ground on Sunday.

This fund-raiser will give support to a football family with ongoing medical expenses.
